3rd Sunday of September. It is the primary fundraiser for the

family and friends who work together to plan and implement the
35 mile motorcycle ride that has drawn up to 700 bikes and 50
police escorts.
6th Annual Peter J. Lavery Memorial Run -
September 19, 2010 The 6th Annual Peter J. Lavery Memorial Run took place on Sunday,
September 19, 2010. This year's motorcycle ride was a tremendous
success, with all proceeds raised benefiting the Peter J. Lavery
Memorial Scholarship Fund.
The ride began with registration at Maguires Sports Bar, located on
the Berlin Turnpike, Newington, CT. It featured a 35 mile police
escorted motorcycle ride through the towns of Newington, Berlin,
Cromwell, Middletown, Portland, Glastonbury and Wethersfield. It
concluded back at Maguires with lunch provided for all riders and
music by Shark Entertainment.
There was an incredible show of support from local businesses,
sponsors, supporters, volunteers, police, fire and ambulance
departments, family, friends and hundreds of riders. So many people
contributed to the success of this ride, and as a result, over
$25,000 was raised for the Peter J. Lavery Memorial Scholarship Fund
in honor of MPO Peter J. Lavery. This would not be possible without
the hard work, commitment and generosity of so many in our
community.

A Tribute to Peter
This event is a fitting tribute to Peter. He was an avid
motorcyclist who participated in many rides throughout the years.
Motorcycling was his passion both in his personal life and on the
job. Peter participated as a police escort in the annual Americas
911 Ride to Pennsylvania, Washington, D.C. and New York City. He
rode in the Suicide Run hosted by the Blue Knights of New York City,
Rolling Thunder to honor U.S. veterans in Washington, D.C. and many
local memorial rides, including the Brian Aselton Memorial
Motorcycle Run. He proudly provided motorcycle escort missions for
the Newington Police Department for families who lost a loved one or
for military troops leaving for war. He loved going away for weekend
rides throughout New England and beyond with family and friends. He
was always happily planning his “next ride”. For additional

Department.
